Why we’re sponsoring The Pitch to nurture and celebrate UK start-up successOctober 8, 2015 10:06 am
We love highlighting exciting UK start-ups and small businesses, whether they’re creating a new technology which will disrupt entire industries, or simply bringing online ordering to a village café which has been a local favourite for decades. We’re even starting early by sponsoring Code Clubs across the country to make coding fun and to encourage kids to become the coding world leaders of tomorrow.
It’s because of this passion for exciting new ideas and new businesses that we decided to sponsor The Pitch. The Pitch is the UK’s biggest small business competition, established in 2008. The Pitch was set up by a team which, like us, was passionate about helping start-ups by shining a light on fantastic entrepreneurial talent. Over the years The Pitch has highlighted incredible small businesses, many of whom have gone on to do great things.
But while we love all the amazing businesses which have won before, we’re much more excited about all the new businesses which have entered this year. We may not have heard of many of them yet, but with the amazing talent in the recently announced Top 100, we are sure that you’ll be hearing more from them very soon.
All 100 are really exciting new businesses, and cover a wide range of industries and sectors. Right now you can vote on which of the Top 100 you think should progress to the final stages and which ultimately deserves to be crowned champion.
Before the finalists are announced though, all 100 companies have a final chance to develop their skills at two regional Boot Camps, in Manchester on the 8th of October, and in London on the 22nd of October. As well as giving these fledgling businesses prime networking time, the Boot Camps will be an opportunity for the shortlisted Top 100 to hone their pitching skills, with intensive coaching and mentoring sessions. While there can only be one winner, we want to see as many of our Top 100 become great examples of UK start-up success.
Make sure you keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook pages in the coming month as we’ll be bringing you all the latest from the Boot Camps and the exciting grand final in November. It looks set to be a great showcase for the UK start-up scene and we’re incredibly proud to be a part of it.
